And if you open in Word Online, no options to save from there, either.

On a call. Realizing how much I detest OneDrive. Totally useless.
I've had good luck with it so far. What are your pain points?
No way to download or open files. It forces the opening of the file to Word Online, which doesn't work, and doesn't let me download to open it with an application that actually works.
I think you need to do a screen recording of this stuff someday. These sound like the weirdest issues.
What's interesting is that there are three places to download Onedrive documents.
None of those exist when something is emailed from OneDrive. remember I don't have a OneDrive account because Microsoft themselves hosed it.
Completely forgot about that, bother.

I'll have to test it. Normally there is a little arrow next to the document that lets you download something.
Unless it is from OneDrive, then it disables it.
That's a bizarre design decision. I'm one of the only people here who heavily uses Onedrive so I wouldn't see that behavior.

Why would you email from OneDrive?
Scott - I know MS hosed your O365 account - I'm going to pull a @JaredBusch here and say - get over yourself and have Minion Queen or whomever make you a new account with a new name. It's just not worth the hassles in life you have because you are unwilling to get a new account.

You are in SharePoint it seems.
I use OneDrive for Business and I also have a personal OneDrive account. Both offer download links all over the place in all browsers on all operating systems.
Go in the menu and click on "OneDrive".

That's not how OneDrive works. I'm in Outlook. If I go to OneDrive, it's not going to show me this file as it comes from someone else's OneDrive.

That's the default for Office 365. They work very hard to make you do that. And it makes sense, if it worked. That way you are using OD for storage, instead of Exchange. But when OD doesn't work, the system screws you.

Right, that's all that I get in Outlook. If I go to OneDrive, it would not show this document at all. This is OWA.

Gotcha, yes, the issue is someone ELSE using OneDrive and hosing me as it blocks any attempts for me to get access to the file. It opens in Word, but Word can't handle the file format and chokes on it showing only part of the document.

Yeah, it is. It's because they want to force you into Word Online, I think. So to encourage it, they try to make anything else as difficult as possible.

I could have told you that... They get super pissy when you take a shot at their cash cows, no matter how badly the cow was behaving.

Enjoy your vacation from SW. Now you'll get to see how free it is without them.

Yup, I was already reaching out to Jay, too. This is a HUGE ethics breach. Kind of like the Liquid Nitrogen Overclocking situation many years ago - where we KNOW that a vendor was paying to have specific people silenced.
