So, I opened a ticket with A2 support:
Me:
reference: My internet connection is 150/150I uploaded 2 mp4 files ( 74 & 196 MB)
Vultr upload took 10 secs.
A2 upload took over 7 minsDownloading just the 196MB file:
Vultr: 1 sec
A2: 1 min.A few hours later, I tried the upload again:......speed wins
Vultr: 17 seconds
A2: 8 mins 27 secsWhy are these speeds so poor?

We are not a file sharing service nor do we allow file sharing websites so our service is not optimized to feed that type of setup. From what I can tell this seems to be what you might be setting up as that is what Next Cloud is for. We do not allow this on our servers / we do not allow File Storage.Please do not setup a file sharing or backup or storage cloud on the server. I apologize for any confusion.

Why is NextCloud available to install in the Softaculous catalog? Why not remove it since you claim it is not allowed?A2:

We offer our customers a variety of scripting using the Softaculous installer, as with all websites on our network the content of our customers sites must be in keeping with our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy which prohibits :Audio/Video streaming (other than that which is incidental to a site's operation)
Very large photo galleries
Storage of a large amount of uncompressed or full-size digital images
Online file (FTP) serving
Distribution of large audio or video content such as MP3 files
Online backups (i.e. backup of desktop/laptop computer, files, or anything not directly related to the website)Holy crap what a load of BS. Add them to the list of "never ever use."
Cloudways will have zero issue with that!

As much as I would love to move off A2 and use Cloudways, I've got a few things to consider:
- Domain name hosting
- DNS settings for my different domains
- Email accounts
- No "one-click" install of some 3rd party apps

That should never be tied to any other service. THat's your registrar and should have no technical role whatsoever. We use GoDaddy for this.

Sadly, that's a tough one. You either need to build your own (Vultr + cPanel/CWP + Softaculous) or you need a full on web hosting environment like ASO (not ASO, just like that.)

As much as I would love to move off A2 and use Cloudways, I've got a few things to consider:

That should never be tied to any other service. THat's your registrar and should have no technical role whatsoever. We use GoDaddy for this.
I use Hover (not A2) as my registrar. I then "manage" (not sure what the correct term is) them at A2

No facepalm...I have the critical ones with Office365 & I have a bunch of generic (aka free) with A2

Sounds like you'll have to do this anyway, or your service could randomly just stop. Which is worse, a planned move or an unplanned outage?

But your DNS should never be tied to your hosting. So it's important that you move this anyway. It's trivial to move, though, and can be moved right now, not a part of any other move.

If it is important enough to worry about moving, it's important enough not to be tied to web hosting because it creates technical debt in the form of lock in. You listed it here as a concern, hence the point.

Maybe it exists & we just don't know who?
That's what I'm saying... seems impossible that this does not exist. It's not the hardest service to provide, but I never hear about anyone offering something really great.

We use CloudFlare.
