Eltima Software, which makes the popular Elmedia Player and download manager Folx, today confessed the latest versions of those two apps came with an unwelcome extra – the rather horrid OSX.Proton malware.
...
Proton is a remote-control trojan designed specifically for Mac systems. It opens a backdoor granting root-level command-line access to commandeer the computer, and can steal passwords, encryption and VPN keys, and crypto-currencies from infected systems. It can gain access to a victim's iCloud account, even if two-factor authentication is used, and went on sale in March with a $50,000 price tag.I'm guessing we will see a bunch of newly pilfered celebrity nude pics soon.

That's one of the good things about the new way of Windows operating systems. Many incremental small changes. It works on most of our machine but of course the surfaces have issues with the latest release.
I'm trying to get my machine to update at home - and it just keeps saying reboot to finish.
have you tried rebooting it?

https://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=3418Probably good, having too many desktop options is a distraction. Especially when Mint makes TWO of their own desktops!

Why stop there? Cinnamon is their favorite child. Minds well put a 100% of the resources there. Look at how well Elementary OS looks.

I agree. I think eliminating all the extra desktops, including MATE, would be smart. Splitting their resources makes no sense when the purpose of their distro is Cinnamon.

Makes sense to me

I've never understood why they put so much effort into making their own desktop, then make a crappy fall back sort of clone of that desktop, then make some themes for other desktops. Too much weird stuff. If you are using Mint for something other than Cinnamon, why are you using Mint?
