FBI announces incompetency of its own capabilities

@popester this stance honestly wouldn't surprise me.
But what I suspect would happen would be a uprising of people who know what a tyrannical government would be like and work to actively overthrow it.

Won't happen until the baby boomers are gone...

So you are saying round two of 1765? We can only hope that it doesn't get that far.

We are the baby boomers of this generation, the last generation was "free love, expression etc" not "freedom to peer into my life any time you want"
The only way to work to correct issues like this is to remove the people who are actively attempting to undermine freedom to live in peace.

The US is constantly evolving. I don't see it as being North vs South, but I could certainly see it as political opinions vs each other. .

Something to remember the revolution was 2 governments fighting each other for control of the nation.
Today we don't have this issue, literally have no choice for the government. We do have a choice in who we vote for though and if those people are decent, they'll stand by what they ran on.
Rather than turn the cheek and start taking coffer money.
-
@dustinb3403 "Decent" people don't run for office. Even in the rare instance when a decent person gets elected to something, they get to Washington and they have to play the game the way it already exists, thereby removing their ability to do the right thing in any scenario.
-
@rojoloco yea. . . unfortunately this is true. . .
they have to play the game the way it already exists, thereby removing their ability to do the right thing in any scenario.
So what other options are there?

I can see your point, I was just thinking of it in a "We The People vs. and ever growing Leviathan in DC". I believe we agree totally.

I would move that; given the technology we have today, we push the issue of dispersing the so called "representatives" back to the localities they so called "Represent". Makes it a lot harder to live a cloistered existence. If you can knock on my door and ask for an explanation, I may just represent you a little better.

Burn it all to the ground, then a couple or three generations of some Walking Dead type shit, then maybe something better will rise from the ashes of society?

Common values among most baby boomers I know, "don't do anything bad and you wont have anything to hide", "obey the police and you wont get shot", etc. Not sure I've ever met a "free love, expression, etc" boomer, at least they still aren't that way today.

I'd imagine that lobbying keeps them rich and in gated neighborhoods where you couldn't ever confront them. The corporations have a lot of money invested in these pawns, they don't want them mingling with the peons.

The Constitution provides a mechanism to bypass the representatives and their enablers. Check out Article 5.

Going dark, isn't a problem. The right to privacy is granted by our constitution.
I am hearing from certain circles that "The Constitution" is on life support. It is seen as an inconvenience to those who have a disdain for the individuals rights and the right to privacy. Many consider us in a "Post Constitutional" period.
Which would be fine, if we were doing something better. But we aren't. It's just lawlessness.

That's correct. The system is really designed for this. Every aspect of our government system is designed to encourage status quo and corruption. There is no reward for being ethical, no visibility to the people, and the people are essentially forced to maintain status quo.

I'm much more of a "start over" believer. I don't think our system works, period. It is old and pre-dates most modern republic designs and it shows. Other countries learned so much from our mistakes, but we don't have a system that allows for growth and adaptation. The US system is designed, intentionally or by accident, to make anything outside of status quo essentially impossible.

Sadly, I could see this being what eventually winds up happening.

Well, it's possible, but that's never really happened. And it isn't like the US hasn't gone through this before. Remember that hole Revolution thing? We've done this, and it worked out fine.
Most countries go through revolutions from time to time. The US has gone pretty long without one.

But if we're going to have a revolution, there must be dancing . A revolution without dancing is not a revolution worth having.
