Any Dungeons and Dragons Players?

I have a couple friends who play every Monday night and they've been trying to convince me to join them.
What edition do you play?
3.5 and 4th recently.

I tried to play when I was in high school. a week or so later my dad came home with a pamphlet that said that playing D&D was the devil's game or some such non sense. What was even more strange, my house wasn't brought up with church. Make me laugh to think back on it.
I ran the RPG club at my high school (big surprise... imagine that, me a social geek and community organizer, who would have guessed?) It was the most popular and busiest club at school. All clubs met once a week except us, five times a week. We were so active that a teacher got her son to commute nearly two hours once a week to run a game for us .... he was a professional campaign writer for a game publishing company!

So last night one of the players from our last campaign emailed me that she got a featured article in GeekXGirls! She did a Red Sonja photoshoot last year and they ran some of her pics. This is Rachel, she's a senior physics major...

I used to play in HS too, and also had the lecture of the D&D satanic influence...I fought the good fight for a bit and then just quit to get mom to stop harping and lecturing.

Did you ever try other games? I found that most people knew the games by the name D&D. Play a different RPG and no one cared.

So does this girl. I actually prefer LARPing - my character is a Tolkien hobbit.

I played in college with some guys on my floor in our dorm. my roommate and I were the "not serious" players who drank everything, pulled out imaginary weapons, attacked teammates, and built tree-houses to play in. We had a blast, the guys who were more serious about it....got tired of us fast.
-
@Hubtech I'm a serious player only. I really enjoy it when everyone is really in character.
-
@scottalanmiller well great, i guess we can never D&D each other scott....now i'm upset

My dungeon master is here too I think. I'm pretty sure that @kontazler is my DM.

I will D&D anyone/thing who needs to be D&D'd

I need a new group. I really miss playing.

I used to run an online game every Tuesday from 1999 to about 2005. Had a year in the middle with nothing at one point, but otherwise almost continuous.
The virtual tabletop has come a LONG way from what it was in 1999. It was a great way for separated friends to still get together and play. I recorded the voice chat and crunched them to MP3. They used to be posted on the website for my game, but I am not sure where I put them after moving the site from server to server a time or two.

No, I found other activities including some that were worse than D&D (flammables comes to mind)

D&D definitely kept me out of a lot of trouble in high school. When I first got my license the first place that I drove was to a Shadowrun game.

Another player & DM from back in HS days. Mostly fell off during college. Had to be the assortment of games. It was great exercise for the imagination and story crafting. Always had a peeve about campaigns stopping and falling apart. Seems many of those who had been in those campaigns felt computer equivalents were perfect for them.
Need to have these—

I like computer RPGs but they aren't the same. I like the role playing aspects and really getting into the character.
