In a discussion with Cisco about a switch that has had the same failure 3 times. I am in a baseball state of mind on this one.

Researching about turning my older MAC Mini into a Linux Server for learning and teaching.

What is your concern?
I know nothing of Doha.
Doha Qatar: Security, and the unknown.

Rant: I feel like Rodney Dangerfield.
Just had a conversation with a division manager that in my mind did not go well. I heard through the grapevine that two employees were flying to Doha. So I reached out to find out more because there was mention of taking "Company" wireless devices (ipads). Maybe I am over reacting but this concerns me. Should it?..... The first part of the conversation spoke of Vacation in Doha. I then requested that the company equipment stay behind. Then the conversation turned to Work in Doha..... -_- Then comes the infuriating part of the conversation. "They were there a year ago - didn't seem to be an issue then?"
"Oh well...." was my response.
Am I being too paranoid?

RE: Random Thread - Anything Goes
Did you hear about Bill Gates and Elon Musk teaming up to cure Erectile Dysfunction? They are going to name the joint venture Elon-Gates.

Are you sure that what you don't like is related to the terminal? The terminal itself does relatively little. It handles your copy/paste functions, the font rendering and stuff like that, but that's about it. The terminal does extremely little. I'm no Mac fan, but their terminal is very solid and standard, essentially the same as all of the big ones.
Understood. Thank you.

What do you dislike about the native app / what are you looking for in a replacement?
Truthfully: I am not real sure.... I do not have a level of experience with terminals that would enable me to distinguish bad from good. I am sure it works fine. It is just that there is potential and possibility out there and I wanted to ask the professionals to see if there was something better. Digging a hole with your hands works, but what if there is a shovel out there, or better yet a backhoe.

RE: Favorite (preferably free) terminal.
@marcinozga Agreed. To clarify, my workstation is a Mac Mini, I am connecting to VM's that I am spinning up in our production environment (isolated of course), and on an old workstation that I installed fedora server 31 configured with KVN.

Favorite (preferably free) terminal.
My attempts at searching the forum did not bear fruit: I am trying to learn about Linux and don't really care for the standard terminal that comes with Mac. It works fine, I would just hope that someone has come up with a slicker, more powerful substitute. Thank you.

Here is how I use votes in general:
Upvote = I agree or I see your post and acknowledge it, but it doesn't necessitate me typing a full post to reply
Downvote = I disagree with what you said, but I don't want to invest the time arguing with you (for a variety of reasons)It might change how/when I use downvoting initially if it is public. I don't do it often, but anonymity makes it too easy. It probably would change how I use it because if it is public it would give the downvotee the visibility to challenge me for negatively responding without feedback. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing.
I 2nd this.

RE: Remote management of employees personal cell phones ...
Not to derail or side track, one of the issues I have with BYOD is the phone number that the individual has. I am sure there is an answer I have just not thought about. I have pushed for 100% company issued phones due to the nature of a cell number being a point of contact. I am in an industry that has turnover. When field personnel build a relationship with our customer and leave, the number goes with them if it is not ours. Any thoughts?
We use Meraki MDM paired with Apple Configurator profiles. FYI.

RE: Lastpass missing from Chrome this morning
Sorry but I do not use chrome, I use Brave which I believe is based on chrome and last pass seems to be working with the latest update. Hope this helps.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
I have issues with Spectrum generally speaking. Worst ISP I have worked with in my career
Comcast is my nemesis. The support phone call ends up either in a transfer to nowhere or my boss laughing at me for screaming at the the Robo-Slut, "GIVE ME THE HUMAN!"

Definitely seems like an odd choice to start with.
These days,
KVM is the obvious choice for most people. Super fast, really easy to use, specifically the fastest option for Windows workloads (presumably that's what you are using XenApp for), and totally free. And super well known with all kinds of support. Can I get the best jumping in link for KVM? I tried researching a couple of years ago and could never quite get it off the ground.
THank you.

I've seen reports in the past that XenServer frequently had problems working on consumer equipment because it lacked the needed drivers.
My thought process was that we are a XenApp on ESXi shop. We used xenserver for the first year but had lots of issues so we bit the bullet and ponied up for vCenter and ESXi. C-Level wants to look at cutting cost and XenServer is much cheaper. We have always been buyers, not engineers. I would like to do more along the line of design, not just bus driver. Forgive my possible slaughter of terminology.

If you're not going to be paying for support from Citrix, I highly recommend using XCP-ng instead.
This seems to be the direction to go. Thank you, all of you.
