ZDNet Calls Dell XPS 13 the Best Linux Laptop of 2017
-
Is it worth the money? Let me put it this way: Do you want to use the best possible tools for your daily work, or do you want to pay just enough to get by? If, like me, your answer is you want the best to be the best, then you'll get the XPS 13, and you'll be glad you did.
really? The best? You're a programmer - you need i7 power? what are you crunching?
-
I agree that it seems overpowered for that function. Probably a very good laptop outside of that though.

Sure, but that $1800 version - who really needs that? I'm sure there are people, but probably not most. Other than drive size, I'm guessing the i3 version would be fine for most - though 8 GB of RAM really seems to be the bottom end desire these days... so now you're up to the $1050 one.

The typical user should honestly buy a chromebook/chromebox. 99% of my users, lifetime, only browse the web or use google docs etc. $150 is hard to beat and they run great.

How many IT pros do you need think that they need power like that. This is much cheaper than a less powerful MacBook.

I got Laura one for her birthday last year which is still running fantastically and I purchased around 60 of them for multiple computer labs (dell chromeboxes) at one of my former companies. They were for the developmentally disabled to have web access. They all ran great.

Yes. Very responsive. Certainly faster than normal user need.

Agreed, almost none, basically I think that most of those high end devices are nothing but status symbols.

This would go into a midlife crisis kit with a hawaiin shirt, oakleys and an overpriced car in yellow.

Hey - I loved my solar yellow extended cab Dodge Dakota Sport, thank you very much! They didn't have the quad cab in yellow, or else I would have had that - and well, a Prius would look stupid in yellow.

LOL - I like it.

Expensive, but looks like some really great hardware. I could definitely get by with a less expensive model.
