Spiceworld Trip Cancelled Due to CA Legislation - Alternate Conference Suggestions?
-
I might suggest you look at some conferences in Florida. I know VMware was talking about one in Tampa maybe in the past few months perhaps? I'm pretty sure Microsoft has one coming up in the next month or two in Orlando as well, and I want to say I heard there is to be a Linux-centric conference also in Orlando before years' end.
Sorry for the lack of names, just rattling off what's on the top of my head. =\

Southern California Linux Expo...

Don't know if it is any good... but maybe worth looking into.
Oooo this looks interesting. We are a very Linux (CentOS as much as possible) heavy shop.
-
@anthonyh How much do you have to spend? I can setup the PenguinWrangler Tech Conference in St. Louis, MO. A lot of 1 on 1 time with tech people...mainly me.
-
@penguinwrangler There is no set amount per say (I know there is some reasonable cap of some sort but I'm not privy to that info...I just ask and my boss usually approves). However, if the conference registration is cheap (sub $500) and/or free chances of approval are good.

Give us a month or so to get back to normal, please. A Lot of places still don't have power yet.

So, I work for a government agency in California. Legislation was passed where the state will not reimburse underlying agencies for travel expenses to states that have law(s) on the book that "have the effect of voiding or repealing existing state or local protections against discrimination..."
Isn't this a breach of the interstate commerce clause?
-

interstate commerce clause?
I don't think so. If California told businesses based in California they couldn't do business with those states, then yes that would be. However, California itself can choose whom they do business with.

Since when has anyone paid any attention to little things like the constitution?
