London, U.K., -- Scale Computing, the market leader in hyperconverged solutions for midsized companies, today announced that its innovative HC3 appliance has been awarded ‘hyperconverged solution of the year’, at the 2017 SVC Awards. Built with simplicity in mind, the HC3 appliance integrates storage, servers and virtualisation software into one easy-to-use solution, providing a complete data centre in a box.
The annual SVC Awards recently took place in London to celebrate and reward this year’s leading companies in storage, cloud and digitalisation. CRN Announcement: Scale Partners with APC
Scale Computing Forms Partnership With APC Giving Partners A 'Powerful' Micro Data Center 'In-A-Box' Solution
Scale Computing has formed a new partnership with APC by Schneider Electric to create a turnkey hyper-converged solution that executives say will lead to higher margins for channel partners and enable solution providers to scale capacity and computing power at the edge quickly.
"This is pretty powerful," said Bill Barnier, sales manager at Bloomfield Hills, Mich.- based solution provider Data Partner, who partners with Scale. "They can do power back up, the compute and the storage, all in one box. That's powerful to be able to put all of that in one appliance at the remote edge. That will definitely be something that customers would have interest in, especially those who have a lot of remote sites."
Hyper-converged specialist Scale Computing has been chosen as an Alliance Partner by APC by Schneider Electric to support its hyper-converged Micro Data Center Xpress solution, which combines a purpose-built infrastructure with a physical management wrapper for hyper-converged architectures. Xpress is a complete and energy-efficient IT solution that is pre-tested, optimized, and able to be rapidly deployed. APC said it creates a reliable and robust environment to leverage the best of on-premises and multi-cloud infrastructures.

Scale Teams Up with Unitrends to Drive Channel HC Sales from CRN
Scale Computing's flagship HC3 hyper-converged platform is getting a shot in the arm with the addition of Unitrends disaster recovery and backup technology for both on-premises and in the cloud.
"This partnership is really all about the channel and our commitment to showing partners how they can make money," said Jeff Ready, CEO and co-founder of Scale Computing, in an interview with CRN.
"With our partnership with Google and our Cloudy Unity product, Unitrends does that granular backup and recovery on the cloud basis. Idaho Farm Bureau chooses Scale HC3
"Though they have different pressures and market demands, small and midsized insurers aren’t ignoring the rapid digital transformation sweeping the insurance industry.
Idaho Farm Bureau is in the midst of upgrading the company’s IT infrastructure and core systems, initiatives that are allowing the multiline P&C insurer to glean insight and improve the customer experience using next-generation digital tools like drones, smarthome devices and geographical information systems (GIS).
CIO Adam Waldron says that the company was looking to set up a hot disaster-recovery site when it contracted with Scale Computing’s HC3 for server, storage and virtualization. Now that Scale is up and running, the company is able to leverage the investment to support advanced digital efforts. Scale integrates with Google Cloud Platform to allow customers to tap into additional storage and running environments at the same time it continues to work on-premise.
“We were a VMWare shop, but to get the capabilities [and hardware] we needed, it would double our licensing costs,” he says. “What it came down to was scale, rapid expansion [of our server space] when we needed it.”"...

I was forunate enough to see Scale in action from friend and saw his lab of multiple nodes connected.
Scale does use KVM, and virt IO that is not secret, everyone can have this tech right now, but hypervisor alone is not enough, reminds me abit of mobile processors and cpus, you can have the best cpu but without decent gpu + uncore + modem, it will be crap, and same can be said for scale they wrap KVM with amazing tech to make it hyper-converged in such easy manner. Those multiple nodes pool resources and you have very easy web GUI to manage VMs and easily move them and clone them and migrate them to other nodes.
So KVM or ESXi alone does not really cut it in this time and age. And scale magic is mostly in pooling storage in an effortless manner between nodes, and giving you all this in an easy web UI.
