Still don't know wtf caused it, but the laptop is a Win 7 refurb from 3+ years ago, so it's just not worth repairing.
A new screen might be $12 bucks, what model laptop is it?

Yeah depending on the model they usually start around $60.

Dell Inspiron N5050. After a quick search, the best prices I have found are $50-60, which is in line with what @JaredBusch and @stacksofplates mentioned above.
This is a bit unbelievable, but I don't need to worry about replacing the screen right now. The service dept. manager just informed me that another technician called in and said that they ran their laptop over with a vehicle and it is now FUBAR'd. They need a replacement tomorrow, and since I am fresh out of spares, they are OK with me issuing this one as-is for now.

The Millennium Falcon with the Deathstar far in the distance?

Iām curious why you lost anything at all?
Is the non office version of O365 not available to you? That would have significantly lowered your monthly cost and left you with OneDrive for business.
Plus you could have moved to Outlook.com or Gmail for free, then paid like $1/m for onedrive if you wantedYep it is available, comes in at around $AU8.xx per month. I could have gone with Exchange Online (no Onedrive) which comes in at around $AU6.20/mth.
The aim of the exercise was to see what I could get for as few $$s as possible and still work effectively.
I've moved all my photos to a 1TB external HDD, that's about all I really want to keep, lots of stuff I kept I hardly used & is available to download again so I just ditched it.
I got a free 50GB account with MEGA but not sure if I'll use it.
The Zoho mail is slow compared to an Exchange account hosted in my part of the world, I may move my email again to somewhere geographically closer????

Left it out pointed at a total solar eclipse.

got an interview for an upgraded position within the same department.
been close to 20 years since I had a job interview.
I used to sweat over them, this time 'round, i'm maybe too laid back.
8 hour round trip and loss of a days pay just to get to the interview. -

You could be sneaky and book the day off with annual leave -

You could be sneaky and book the day off with annual leaveSelf employed mate, contractor. Have to go into the city & meet with other more important contractors & be interviewed by them to see if I cut the mustard.

Yep, they're both available.
I've made a big 'overlook'. I never realised how organised server side inbox rules made my life.
This IMAPing business is too much grief for me, I need more responsiveness & order in my email world.
I'll be moving back to an Exchange platform.
Can I use Outlook.com with my own domain for free or do I have to upgrade?? -

Can I use Outlook.com with my own domain for free or do I have to upgrade??actually I don't think you can use Outlook.com with a domain at all anymore - they had it as an option for a time.. but I heard (though can't confirm) that it was removed.
Zoho I believe offers an ActiveSync add-on for their email, though I don't know if they offer email rules in their webportal to help you out.
What do you use as your email client? Outlook 2016/2019?

Weirdest thing just happened - OK My contacts fell out while sitting at the desk, So i just left them out, and I can see a lot better without my contacts.. No issues seeing my computer, or reading ..
Apparently I dont need them?
Idk it's weird and I haven't had enough coffee yet.
Happy Tuesday -
