Don't confuse "Unlimited" the product name with "unlimited" as in having no limits. OneDrive is severely limited.
-
And even if OneDrive WAS unlimited, it's not available. I have OneDrive and it has all the limits. The "unlimited" option isn't big enough for my use, but even if it was, I can't get it.

@scottalanmiller Your talking about OneDrive for Business. onedrive.com is truly unlimited if you have office365.

How does one get that? I have Office 365 and OneDrive but it is anything but unlimited.

You have the business edition. The version he is talking about is the consumer edition.

I have both. Neither is unlimited.

Microsoft has said in the past that they will be deploying unlimited ODfB in the coming months. I think there was a thread on it here not too long ago.

It's supposed to be, with something like 10GB single-file-size limits.

The problem is your using the business product. In this case the consumer product is better.

Yay for Education O365!

Well 10GB file size limits makes it useless right there. But beyond that, that's the service that isn't unlimited. ODfB is 1TB limit. OneDrive is more like 1-4TB depending on file sizes. But it's not available to everyone, just some people, they were rolling it out slowly.
Can anyone find a reference to OneDrive truly being unlimited? What service was MS calling unlimited but was only a few TB it that wasn't it? There was thread after thread about how unlimited was a BS marketing term and that the limits were very severe.

We've already covered that I'm using both OneDrives.

That's the limited service I'm talking about and the one we've discussed in other threads. Anything but unlimited...

I agree that MS has stated that they are rolling out Unlimited consumer OneDrive slowly over time (though I wouldn't expect it to be more than a year to get everyone there).
I do also recall there were limits based on the number of files you could have, but I thought that was more do do with Sharepoint than OneDrive, i.e. only a problem on the business side, but I could be mistaken on that.

The article said that ODfB was 1TB, not unlimited. OneDrive NOT for business is the one with the 10GB and 20K files limits. As discussed ad nauseum in other threads.
-
For my use case, it is unlimited, but I could see how you could say it not truly unlimited, yet...

That article is specifically talking about ODfB.

No, for your case you aren't using that much. That's nothing like being unlimited. For "someone's case" any service is unlimited. We shouldn't just start labeling anything unlimited and saying "on, by unlimited I thought you meant more than I used." Unlimited means something specific. OneDrive isn't even an attempt at unlimited. It's not large enough to back up my home storage. It's not big enough to back up my GoPro footage. It's not big enough for tons and tons of common usages. There are lots of things for which it is plenty, like photos and MP3s for normal people. But it can't even back up my MP3 collection, it's too small.
So I have about five personal use cases that each, individually, would overrun it. It's not even unlimited for casual use cases.

Is that true? It says OneDrive Unlimited. Not OneDrive for Business Unlimited. Can you find anything that says that OneDrive Unlimited is actually unlimited? A Microsoft site is not an adequate reference as they've already shown that unlimited to them is marketing for "very limited." Is there some reason to suspect that OneDrive is actually unlimited?
And again, doesn't matter, I have ODfB and OD and neither have been upgraded to the larger limits anyway. So the point is moot in my case.
