Install VyOS for internal host routing, a blog of some sort (WordPress or Drupal), NextCloud, a DNS server (I like Pi-Hole), and tie it all up with a FreePBX install (even if you don't get any SIP/VOIP service for it, still good to know). That's where my home lab is at this point at least.

And deploy new machines with custom Kickstart files. All the things automated!

Yeah, once you get into Salt or Ansible, it really feels like there's no better way to do things.

Some poor posted on SW posted something a little weird (but not all that bad) and got downvotes to oblivion for no reason. I said something about it that it should not be downvoted like that... and immediately a moderator popped in to nuke my defense of the OP!
Holy shit those mods hate the community. Like... they literally hate anyone not in the clique. Be helpful, get modded. Be honest, get modded. Point out a troll, get modded. Say something nice about a new poster, get modded.

Here it is... I was downvoted for saying "Why the heck was this downvoted 203 times?" Which was meant as moral support for the OP who was clearly not liked by the community. It's bad enough that I was downvoted for being kind and supportive. But then @DenisKelley posted something agreeing with me, and was not moderated for it. I asked why I was moderated for saying it, but not him for repeating it and immediately got a rant thrown at me about how I should only post "what the OP wants to hear" which makes no sense as that had absolutely nothing to do with the moderation.
So not only was I inappropriately moderated for being supportive. And not only was I moderated in a biased way where others saying the same thing got away with it. But then it was used as a way to derail the thread going into something that had nothing to do with anything.
