Hi.
I want , if company allow me, to make a backup copy of all the data company in the Cloud.
My idea is make a "mirror" of the local Data in the cloud the weekend, all the data including VMs and Databases is about 6TB.
The Backup will be only recover in case of a big emergency, I have a Nas and Tape Backup.
Looking in Amazon I see two options S3 and Glaicer, but I'm not sure what's the best option in my case, or if there are other cloud providers.
Can someone guide me with this ?
Thanks
@jyates said in GPO on Desktop:
You can change permissions for the "desktop" folder . I don't know of a GPO for it off hand, but here's a site that's rather helpful with policies.
Thanks for the Link.
For this kind of programs I use runasspc
http://www.robotronic.de/runasspcEn.html
It creates an encrypt certificate with the user and password with admin rights to execute the program as Admin.
It's easy to do.
You can always install Google Play Store in Amazon Fire.
Amazon store is very limited with his Apps
I like Netwrix Apps, they have a lot of free apps like:

Skip 192.168.1.1 please.
Most home networks use that, so IP address conflicts with VPNs tend to happen.
Great Recommendation.
Forget 192.168.1.0,192.168.1.1, 192.168.2.1
You can use 192.168.200.1 192.168.201.1....

The Microsoft VPN client connects - most of the time. In this case we are working with a pair of Microsoft Surface units which can not seem to connect the VPN.
OpenVPN was my first thought on a client, but 'building' the configuration file is a bit convoluted.
Is there another software I could look at?
OpenVpn could be complicate if the users does not have admin rights in the computer.
If they are admin, is quite simple to install and manage.
There are a few ways to avoid that, for example:
- Using the OpenVPN service as a "proxy": http://openvpn.se/files/howto/openvpn-howto_run_openvpn_as_nonadmin.html
- Using a scheduled task: https://community.openvpn.net/openvpn/wiki/Nonprivileged
After test many options finally I decided to install OpenVPN MI GUI in the clients, easy and works very well.
@Dashrender I agree with you.
Only solution I found was install Effective Search in all computers, free and works perfect.
I use a very similar method with robocopy.
I like to receive an email with the log so I use blat.exe to send and email with the robocopy Log
blat.exe -to [email protected] -server smpt.server -f [email protected] -subject "Backup Diario" -body "Backup diario a Nas" -attach c:\Robocopy\Logs\Robo_logs.7z
@Dashrender said in What is the best way to get reloaded Windows 7 up to date?:
Google WSUS Offline
It's great.
You can even put all the updates in a pendrive with this program.
I use it a lot.
I like Prtg, free editon allow 100 sensors, enough for a SMB

Try with Nova Laucher, It has the option to add count to any app.
So it's third party app to enable count but not email client app ?
Yes.
It happens with a lot of Apps.
@marcinozga said in Fing: Network Scanning:
I use Fing app on iPhone all the time. Mostly just to lookup up IP address, or sometimes management port some app is listening on. It does the job better than any other tool I ever used, including nmap.
I use it alot also in Android
For Windows I prefer ZenMap, It's more powerful.
5 of my users, 60 accounts, cannot send e-mails, the emails stuck in the Outbox.
By now the other 55 can send emails but the mail speed is really slow.
I've installed ransomfree https://ransomfree.cybereason.com/
Good tool, and free, to avoid ransomware.

Check if that detects when you run ransim https://www.knowbe4.com/ransomware-simulator
Ransomfree create a few folders in the system with many dummy files inside (.doc .jpg .xlsx..)
In case one of these files change, Ramonfree block the computer and ask you if you allow these changes.
Ransim just check his installation folder so Rasomfree cannot detect it.
