@travisdh1 said in I'm not finding the NextCloud yum repository?:
Of course I think @scottalanmiller could do that in his sleep with how he gets "run this script to install" scripts out.
Well, that isn't even up for debate but of course we're talking 'normal humans' here and for those, it's a lot of work.

RE: Looking for a Nextcloud install guide
Gimp has gotten better over the years, yeah. Still not perfect, but OK. For drawing, there is Krita, a must-try. And Darktable is a great RAW editor.

RE: Looking for private video and audio chat? Use SpreedME in Nextcloud!
@dafyre said in Looking for private video and audio chat? Use SpreedME in Nextcloud!:
Can phones be used with the web client?
Yes, but you'd need a SIP gate as @StrongBad pointed out. For customers we have this as a (paid) add-on. It is totally possible, Spreed.ME is built around that functionality and with a SIP gate can handle hundreds of simultaneous conference calls.
@dafyre said in Looking for private video and audio chat? Use SpreedME in Nextcloud!:
It's my understanding that the Spreed.ME is just a web app that runs in a browser?
It is a server app written in Go with a client side UI. A normal WebRTC call is peer to peer, as is a chat session (all end to end encrypted) but the server can mediate and connect to SIP gates and such. I must say I don't know (yet) that much about the architecture to say much more than that though

RE: ownCloud Server 8.2 is out with new UI and many admin features
Last time I checked, the Documents app wasn't ready for 8.2 yet, but that can change any moment

They do resell Pis. That's why I think you can do it. It's just a bundle. You are just selling the pieces at the same time. You ARE the store at that point.
You're right, I checked with them today about what we can do. We can indeed bundle it as long as we don't pre-assemble it all. We're discussing how/when/what, I am personally of the opinion we should do this once we support the oDroid C2 and include that. Pi's are everywhere, many people have them - not with the oDroids

Some new features and bugfixes are included with this release. Enjoy and let me know what you think of this tech!

RE: ownCloud Server 8.2 is out with new UI and many admin features
There's an update of the Documents app, I haven't checked if it works with 8.2 but you'd think that that is the main reason for the update
Meanwhile, Here is the next batch of #ownCloudConf videos starting with Sabre/DAV developer Evert Pot about promises & generators in PHP and followed by 8 other talks covering Docker, Jolla, Agile, Smashbox and more.

RE: NextCloud box
@Reid-Cooper said in NextCloud box:
It's a hobby device. NextCoud said so themselves. Not meant for business use. Just for fun.
Yeah, certainly not a business device, it isn't powerful enough for that. It is meant for home users.
And yes, it is designed to not require maintenance. That is, the OS automatically updates, as does Nextcloud itself. I think that at the moment, you'll have to re-enable apps, that is the only thing. We're working on making that work automatically too. Help is obviously welcome.

RE: ownCloud Server 8.2.1 and Enterprise Subscriptions are available
@dafyre I guess the auto updater takes a while, we usually let it simmer a bit before making it available everywhere
Packages and downloads should be up to date by now, though.

RE: Would you use public link editing' of documents?
@DustinB3403 said in Would you use 'anonymous editing' of documents?:
What use cases were you guys considering when developing this?
Well, I have this so often... Want someone to edit a doc quickly with me but they're not a colleague so I would have to go to our sysadmin and ask them to create an account?!?! That is crazy, we're not going to give random people accounts on our infrastructure! With this I just share a link and - works. Get the doc written, un-share link done.

@travisdh1 said in Looking for private video and audio chat? Use SpreedME in Nextcloud!:
SpreedME is missing npm, compass, sass, scss-lint, autoprefixer, pybable and po2json according to my notes. Haven't had the time to look at it further yet.
Aw, that is rather nasty. Ok, I'll have to find time for this. For the stuff above, I was playing with that, too but you don't need those unless you want to built a custom theme. My server doesn't have any of it and managed to built it just fine if I recall. So are you sure these are needed?
Thanks in any case for the point, I'll use VM's in the future.

RE: ownCloud Server 8.2.1 and Enterprise Subscriptions are available
@scottalanmiller won't solve it... ppl will then only use .2
The issue, esp with open source projects like ours, is that people are often afraid to test the beta's. So when the .0 comes out, we've run our automated tests, coders have tested and some handful of users did tests so the common cases work just fine - but all these corner cases still have issues hiding because users who have non-standard setups didn't help test.
That is why I always say when people ask me "when should I upgrade?": AFTER you have helped test, because that is the only way to make sure YOUR specific situation is tested and issues are fixed.
And thus, if you want the cool new stuff in a .0 as soon as possible, test it in your situation while it is in Beta or RC phase so problems can be fixed and you will notice that .0 is perfectly stable

RE: Would you use public link editing' of documents?
Ah, thanks, I didn't know it was possible in G'docs. Well I guess they feel the pressure from the competition from MS so they're lowering the bar rather than forcing people to sign up to an account...
Still we're cooler
