What I do is I have two internet connections. 1 is the primary with the private wifi and the other is a secondary backup connection should the primary fail. The guest wifi uses the secondary. It's probably not the way this is set up.

If the issue is from a volume of devices, it's not the devices that are the issue. This isn't related to them using iPads, other than they are using lots of devices on wifi all at once. It's not an iPad issue, but a wifi/network issue.
Too much power, overlapping APs, too many APs, all kinds of things can cause issues. Or too few, bad signal, etc.
I thought I read he had 18 iPads, but I don't see that here anymore... that doesn't seem like to many, even for a single AP...
Keep in mind that there are probably gobs of patrons using a guest network on those same APs. It really could be an issue of to many devices using a single AP if they are busy.
I was just about to write this

Also it's only being used for transactions from the sound of it so likely not a lot of traffic

@scottalanmiller I understand what you are saying, but if the device was not directly related you'd see it across other networked devices and you don't even remotely as much (in my experience).

I am the sole support person for a medical clinic business. I've been supporting them for around 7 years.
When I started it was a simple 2 server business with 1 external site and in house Exchange.
Now they have 7 sites and all the things that go along with that.
I'll be wanting to get out of this IT game in about 4 years & spend my days on the beach.
So the question is, how do I go about finding someone to take over the support of this client without doing myself out of a job & income before my beach days arrive?
It's not just about trying to find an alternate support solution for what happens in 4 years, it's for now mainly, due to me being the only person who knows their entire IT setup. If I get hit by that bus, they will be in trouble.
The business has sites in rural areas which from time to time will require on site visits, so more than online only support will be required.
Should I sell the support service as a business? If so, how do you work out what it's worth?
Just interested to hear the thoughts of others.
I'd probably create as much documentation as humanly possible and hand it over to an MSP that you vet. Getting rid of the single point of failure (you) is important. Your documentation is what dictates how smooth the transition will be.
huh - Not sure I'd give it to the MSP - instead give it to the business, let them decide who it needs to go to... if you can be part of the vetting process for your replacement, great, if not, not your concern.
I agree with you dash. Who gives a fuck if you're retiring and hand over documentation.

Hopefully he is involved because he's clearly the only one that can assess them properly but I've seen it go both ways. Not out of the question for sure. Of course the business always gets the final decision.

I'm wondering why someone would replace an SSL cert on exchange and leave the old, expiring one in place but have pointed everything to use the new one......
Am I missing something that's using the old cert.....

Most iPad aren't roaming between, they just lose connection completely then come back from what I understand.
With this, I wouldn't jump to thinking that the iPads are the issue - I want to, but I would suspect the wireless is getting dropped.
Have you check the APs for uptime etc?
Yes, Last night while they were having issues and I was looking at the Unifi Portal and uptime was 9+ hours on all APs . And I saw that wifi Experience was dropping on all APs randomly.
Not trying to throw a wrench into this because you guys may be correct, but at my last job we had issues with apple devices roaming correctly. It ended up being an issue with the device judging the signal strength correctly and the AP's were slightly too close together. We unplugged the closest AP to the one in use and it ended up working flawlessly after that. Just something to think about. Too much overlap can cause weirdness
Yeah the fix to that would be to enable fast roaming and allow the controller/devices to manage their power automatically so they don't overlap.
We tried a lot of solutions and none of them worked. Unplugging one of the AP's didn't really reduce quality so it was a redundant AP in my case.

Yeah I could've easily dropped the cooler for a basic heatsink and fan on it.
I stepped it up cause I wanted too lol....
sure but he can get more bang for his buck with a couple of tweaks to the list

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
@hobbit666 The monitor is the easiest part (cost wise) since you're doing 1080 gaming. What you want to do is try to reduce costs in smart ways. The cooler that Dustin provided is probably not bad, but its also not 100% necessary either. This is more than enough and its a fraction of the cost: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005O65JXI?tag=pcpapi-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1

You could of course maybe save some of that money and install Linux as the OS instead, but you'd have to verify the games you want to play are supported.
Since you said this is for gaming, Microsoft Windows really owns that market....
Speaking of which, anyone still testing proton? I wonder how it's doing

Two games that seem interesting:
Starship Troopers RTS: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1202130/Starship_Troopers__Terran_Command/
Spies vs. Mercs (Old Splinter Cell Game Mode) type of game called Intruder: https://store.steampowered.com/app/518150/Intruder/
Note: Sort of Spies vs. Spies if any of you played the game mode back in the day -

I've been playing Path of Exile recently.
How is that? I've downloaded it, but never actually played it yet.
It's like what D3 should've been if Blizzard's dev's gave a flying f.
I'm enjoying it.
Interesting. But looking at the videos, how does it differ than D3 now that makes it better?
Everything about the game is enjoyable, where as D3 killed their platform with the real money market/ poor game design mechanics and a whiney lead developer (no joke) who simply didn't want to make a game that people would enjoy.
So, my question still remains about the game. It looks the same.
POE isn't going to look that much different because the idea is the same. It's an ARPG/HacknSlash. It may looks similar, like how cars can look very similar but the performance is drastically different. POE is the winner in 99% of it as the people who created it were hardcore diablo 2 players and basically built the game they wanted to play. The skill tree and economy both are standouts for POE. It's a lot to talk about though because there is just so much to compare.
Here is one guys opinion: https://www.requnix.com/diablo-3-vs-path-of-exile
Hope it helps

POE is a love letter to anyone who was a huge fan of Diablo 2. It's really the best incarnation of that kind of game I've ever seen, made by people who truly love the genre
